Start TV is the next generation of TV service. It is commonly referred to as IPTV and uses your existing Start.ca internet connection to deliver television programming to your home using a set-top box or supported streaming device.
This is a requirement from Canada’s Broadcasting Act. Start TV is a registered media distributor, and this registration tells us exactly how to deliver media. As part of this regulation, our broadcast must use our own internet distribution network, which means we can only offer Start TV to people who are existing Start.ca internet customers.
You can watch Start TV in several ways! To enjoy Start TV on your television, you can rent or purchase a set-top box for each television, set-up eligible streaming devices, or download the Start TV app onto your mobile phone or tablet.
Yes! Our Start TV channel packages offer the channels you already know and love. Visit this page for a complete channel listing, and the features you can enjoy with each one.
You can access up to 4 concurrent streams on one Start TV account at one time. One set-top box counts as one stream, as does one supported streaming device, tablet, mobile phone, etc. If you require more than 4 streams at once, you have the option to sign-up for an additional Start TV account.
Yes! You can watch on your mobile devices while on your home Wi-Fi. Since it is IPTV, it means you can access the service while connected to your Start.ca internet. Some limitations may apply to certain channels. Visit this page for a complete channel listing and your viewing options. Yes! You can record approximately 50 hours of programming on your Start TV network PVR. You can also record multiple programs at the same time and access your recordings from other devices inside your home. Please note that at this time, PVR is unavailable with Apple streaming devices.
Yes - depending on the content provider, most channels allow you to pause and rewind live TV. We are continually working to add this functionality to more channels.
